Operazione Arcevia is on for the fourth year running, reigniting the design actions on the territory of Arcevia, Marche.
A pulse, an action, a movement, a performance: to do things. A week of intense creative jamming in the realm of public architecture and design.
From the 29th of August to the 4th of September, in concurrence with La Rivoluzione Delle Seppie hosted at Riserva Privata San Settimio.
ARCEVIA (ANCONA) -To create a new artistic and cultural center in Riserva Privata San Settimio. A meeting point between the Apennines where artists, writers, architects and musicians around the world can meet to develop projects, a Think-Tank, a creative laboratory. This was the idea of Italo Bartoletti that in the 70s created Operation Arcevia. Today everything is reborn thanks to the initiative developed jointly by Riserva Privata San Settimio and UNIT + Collective, young design practice in London founded by Architecture faculty students of London Metropolitan University, THE CASS, with the sponsorship of the City of Arcevia.
Matteo Blandford, UNIT+Collective, for this year’s event created NOTINUSE.otf.
A font with plenty alternative characters which allow it to have an automatic exchange of letters programmed within it; so that as you type characters will change. NotInUse collects broken, forgotten, twisted, useless, and ugly typefaces and makes something new out of them, to highlight how we always make new things when we should really be using what already exists.
This year, the appointment is from the 29th of August to the 4th of September, 2016, Loretello, Arcevia (AN). The presentation of the project, however, will take place Saturday, 3rd of August at 19.00 at the Lake of Riserva Privata San Settimio, then continues with an aperitif on the rooftop terrace of the farm with the presence of the mayor of Arcevia Andrea Bomprezzi, UNIT+ Collective and our partners from the newly established collaboration between Operazione Arcevia and La Rivoluzione delle Seppie and 3 musicians winners of the “Operation Arcevia Music Grant” in collaboration with Arcevia Jazz Feast; all of which will explain the week and illustrate ideas, goals and initiatives of the project.
